Privacy Policy
Effective date: 25 October 2026
1. Who we are
FivePhysics is an online practice site for calculus-based physics at https://fivephysics.com. It is operated by Anthony Valsamis, an individual based in Illinois ("FivePhysics," "we," "us"). You can reach us at [email protected], or at [email protected] for anything about your personal information.
FivePhysics is an independent site. It is not run by, endorsed by, or connected to any school or school district, and it is not affiliated with College Board.
2. Who can use FivePhysics
FivePhysics is meant for high school students, college students, teachers, and other learners who are 13 or older. You can practice without an account. An account is needed only to save your progress so you can use it on more than one device.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. When you create an account, we ask for your birth month and year before the account is made, and the site does not create an account for anyone under 13. If you use "Continue with Google" from the Log in page, Google sets up the sign-in first. The site then asks the same question before saving anything to the account, and it deletes the account right away if the answer is under 13 or if you choose Cancel. If someone leaves at that step without answering, we delete the unfinished account within 7 days. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, please email [email protected].
If you are under 18, please review this policy with a parent or guardian.
3. What we collect and why
If you practice without an account
The site saves your progress in your browser on your device. It is not sent to us.
Information you give us when you create an account
- Email address. Used to create and secure your account, to sign you in, to send account emails (such as confirming your account and resetting your password), and, if you opt in, to send the newsletter, which also carries news such as when Premium opens.
- Password, if you use email and password. Your password is handled by our account service provider and is stored in hashed form. We cannot see it.
- Your age check. You enter your birth month and year, and we use them only to check that you are 13 or older. We keep only the fact that you confirmed you are 13 or older and the time you confirmed it. We do not keep your birth month or year.
- Your newsletter choice. We record whether you opted in to the weekly newsletter and when. It is off unless you turn it on.
Information from Google, if you choose "Continue with Google"
Google shares your email address and basic profile information with us, which can include your name and a link to your profile picture. We use this only to create and sign in to your account. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, or calendar. Our use of information received from Google follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Your practice progress
When you practice, the site records your progress, such as which problems you attempted, whether your answers were correct and when, your review list, your mastery by unit, timed exam scores, game rounds, and problems you flag. This is kept in your browser on your device. If you are signed in, a copy is also saved to your account so you can continue on another device.
We use your progress for two things only: to run the practice features for you, and to improve FivePhysics. Improving FivePhysics means things like finding a problem whose answer check is wrong, or a problem that many students miss for the same reason. When we study progress to improve the site, we look at totals across many users, not at one person's record. The one exception is when you contact us about a problem, for example to report an answer you think was marked wrong. Then we may look at your attempt on that problem to answer you.
Premium
Premium is not on sale yet. Before it opens, we will update this policy to describe how payments are handled.
When you email us
If you email hello@, support@, or [email protected], your message, your email address, and anything you include are forwarded to our email inbox so we can answer you.
Information collected automatically
- Browser storage. The site stores your progress, your display and practice settings, a timed exam in progress, your sign-in session, and your sign-up choices while you finish signing up (for up to one day) in your browser's local storage. If the site cannot create an account after the age check, it also stores a note that keeps the sign-up form closed in that browser for one day. These are needed for the site to work. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics scripts.
- Server and security logs. Like most websites, our hosting and account service providers automatically receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the time of each request. They use it to deliver the site, keep it secure, and prevent abuse. Our hosting provider also gives us totals from it, such as page views by country.
- Fonts. The site loads its typeface from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address.
4. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your personal information for targeted advertising, and we do not show ads.
- We do not build advertising profiles of students.
- We do not use your progress for anything other than the two uses in section 3: running the practice features for you and improving FivePhysics.
5. Who we share information with
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the site, and only as needed for them to do that work.
| Provider | What it does for us | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Accounts, sign-in, and saved progress | Email, hashed password, profile and progress data, IP address |
| Cloudflare | Hosts and delivers the website, and forwards email you send us | IP address and request data, and emails you send us |
| Resend | Sends account emails, and the newsletter if you opt in | Email address and the content of those emails |
| Anthropic | An AI assistant (Claude) that helps us draft replies to emails you send us | The content of emails you send us |
| "Continue with Google" sign-in, web fonts, and our email inbox | Sign-in data you approve, IP address for fonts, and emails you send us |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to valid legal process, to protect the safety of any person, or to protect the security of the site. If FivePhysics is transferred to a new owner, your information may be transferred as part of that, and the new owner must follow this policy for the information we collected.
6. Your choices and rights
- Newsletter. You can turn the newsletter off at any time in your account, or with the unsubscribe link in any newsletter.
- See or download your data. Email [email protected] to request a copy.
- Delete your account. Use Delete account in your account settings. If you cannot sign in, email [email protected] from the email address on your account. Deleting your account permanently deletes your sign-in, your profile, and the progress saved to your account, and it clears the progress in the browser you use to delete it. Copies in other browsers stay there until you clear them.
- Correct your information. Email [email protected].
- Parents and guardians. A parent or guardian may email [email protected] to ask what information we have about their teen, or to ask us to delete the teen's account.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law. We will respond to any request as the law in your state requires.
7. How long we keep information
- Account, profile, and saved progress: until you delete your account. If an account has no sign-in for 24 months, we may delete it after emailing a warning to the address on the account.
- Your newsletter choice: until you change it or delete your account.
- Emails you send us: for up to 3 years, so we can answer you and keep a record of the conversation.
- Server logs held by our providers: according to their own retention periods.
8. Security
We use reasonable safeguards. Accounts are protected by our account service's access rules, so a signed-in student can read and change only their own information. Passwords are hashed. Connections to the site are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.
9. Students and schools
FivePhysics is offered directly to individual learners. It is not provided to schools or school districts under a contract, and schools do not create accounts for students. If we ever offer FivePhysics to schools, we will sign the student data privacy agreements that the law requires before receiving any student information from a school.
10. Users outside the United States
FivePhysics is operated from the United States and is intended for users in the United States. Information is stored and processed in the United States.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If the change is significant, we will also tell signed-in users on the site or by email before it takes effect, and we will ask for your consent where the law or our providers' rules require it.
